Short term Solution Focused Counselling

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, also called Solution-Focused Therapy is future focused, goal directed and focuses on solution, rather than on the problems that brought the clients to seek therapy. Solution focused brief therapy is a short-term goal-focused evidence-based therapeutic approach, which incorporates positive psychology principles and practice, and which helps clients change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT) is a form of psychological treatment that has been demonstrated to be effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems,, marital problems, eating disorders and severe mental illness. CBT is based on several core principles including:

1).Psychological problems are based, in part, on faulty or unhelpful ways of thinking.

2). Psychological problems are based, in part, on learned patterns of unhelpful behavior.

3). People suffering from psychological problems can learn better ways of coping with them, thereby relieving their symptoms and becoming more effective in their lives.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy-ACT Therapy

ACT therapy is a mindful approach to accepting the hardships in life to improves one's overall quality of living. It helps people focus on the present and move forward from overwhelming difficult emotional. Act works in in three areas: accept the emotion and be mindful, choose a direction, and then act accordingly. The first part involves he acceptance of things that are out of your control, as focusing on things outside of your control may cause more distress. In the second and third area, you begin to take charge and commit to the actions that will help with your journey forward.

My Approach

As an Indigenous Counsellor I acknowledge healing is a journey. Thank you for taking the courage to seek out help. I will assist you in finding solutions that help for depression and anxiety. I will provide tools to assist in communication, grounding and relaxation techniques.

 

As a Usui Reiki I, II practitioner I provide energy healing that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and and anxiety through gentle touch. As a Reiki practitioner I use my hands to deliver energy to your body, improving the glow and balance of your energy to support healing.
